An end to what had become torment.

What begins so sweetly can go more sour than one can possibly imagine. Relationships cannot end smoothly. I don't believe anymore that two people can care for one another and part ways as friends. Ejecting the other person from one's life is a natural response to the pain of reckoning with the inevitable.

I don't blame you, K, for leaving. One of us had to do it. I played the ball into your court and left it there, prodding you and hoping that you'd play it. I couldn't decide for myself what I wanted, so I left it up to someone else.

It was an asshole-ish thing to do, but I can be incredibly weak.
