The Pentagon doesn't give us the whole truth. No shit. The Iraqis are watching American news channels.

The Iraqi regime gives us nothing less than absolute horseshit.

CNN has reporters crawling all over Iraq (except in Baghdad). I'll believe them the most.

Oh, and by the way: that wasn't a missile of any sort in that marketplace in Baghdad. Did you notice that a) there weren't any pieces of a missile. There always are. b) the explosion was in the middle of the street. Cruise missiles target buildings (it is very difficult for a cruise missile to land in the middle of a street, given the flight trajectory). At least one of the buildings nearby would have been demolished. c) There was no crater anywhere. Missiles and aerial bombs leave very large craters wherever they hit. d) The car in the middle of the street shows clearly that something exploded inside it. And finally e) the "injured" Iraqis on Iraqi/al-Jazeera TV showed no sign of injury other than clean bandages taped to their noses, chins, and hair?

Anyway. I'm tired of hearing people believe anything that comes out of the Iraqi propaganda machine. It doesn't take much more than an idiot to realize that the Iraqi regime specializes in outright deceit and deception, due to the fact that the regime has had to rely on it for power for decades. They have yet to back up their assertions that the Coalition has killed several hundred civilians. Frankly, given the present nature of US military doctrine and the high levels of training, professionalism, and most importantly, accuracy of the American Armed Forces, I doubt that many civilians have died due to errant bombs or outright US killings. This isn't Vietnam, you know.

Did you know that the Iraqi Republican Guard has been using captured US uniforms (from those trucks they captured) to lure Iraqi regulars into surrendering, and then shooting them all?

They are such nice people.

Anyway, all this hullabaloo about casualties and whatnot is also grating. More people have died this week in the States from car accidents, drunk driving, and gun violence than have died in the war in Iraq (including Iraqis). If you include deaths from heart attacks, cancer, and strokes you've got a massively large gap in the toll.

Don't make such a big deal, people. Humans die at an incredible rate.
